everybody's running 'round now
makin' such a big fuss
getting ready for Christmas (ding dong ding dong)
kids are cryin' in the laps of fat men in red suits
a failing photo artist's loot shoot (cheese! cha-ching!)
"That's forty dollars please."
and I got paid the other day
but now I am flat broke
dropped it all on my kinfolk
this is what they're selling us this Christmas
I'm always fallin' for
the things they try to sell me every Christmas
I'm just another hipocrite
who always manages to get bit
by the holiday spirit (ding dong ding dong)
I've got to find a nice gift for my wife
'cause I love her
it takes a year just to recover (haaah haaah)
from all the shopping
so I vowed this time
that I would spend my dime
through the internet
I hope they don't forget to ship it
oh, this is what they're selling us this Christmas
I'm always fallin' for
the things they try to sell me every Christmas
this is what they're selling us this Christmas
I'm always fallin' for
the things they try to sell me every Christmas
whoa ho ho (ho)
whoa ho ho (ho ho)
ho

Christmas Time Is Here
02:23
|

Christmas time is here
happiness and cheer
fun for all the children call
their favorite time of year
snowflakes in the air
carols everywhere
olden times
and ancient rhymes
and love and dreams to share
sleigh-bells in the air
beauty everywhere
yuletide by the fireside
and joyful memories there
Christmas time is here
we'll be drawing near
oh that we could always see
such spirit through the year
sleigh-bells in the air
beauty everywhere
yuletide by the fireside
and joyful memories there
Christmas time is here
we'll be drawing near
oh that we could always see
such spirit through the year

the bitter cold is blowing
old-town ornamented street-light polls
luminescent longings
for my simple adolescent goals
minor trite complexities
are piled upon me everyday
slightly drab activities
to leach the joy of life away
holidays bereft of tarnish
garnishing the wars we wage
sentimental celebrations
polish every printed page
every scene is changing
for the worse it seems
isn't it strange
how the world keeps showing
hope-filled previews
so we won't complain
I just can't take anymore
blissful couples
sipping cupfuls
can't recall their lives before
rosy cheeks and repercussions
they're not even looking for
dead spruce needles on the floor
can feel me pining for
the moist loving touch of your lips' absence
polarized by Burl Ives' voice
I just can't take anymore
so you come back to me
this christmas eve
and I'll forgive all of the times
that you betrayed me
we'll skate on the pond
kiss by the tree
pure bliss lies beyond
this christmas eve
just leave him tonight
forget his face
pack your bags and take a flight
I'll take his place
we'll be so right
just wait and see
please come back to me
this christmas eve
listen to me
please hear my plea
just come back to me
this christmas eve

Somebody To Hold
04:11
|
|||
the lights tonight
are lacerated by her eyes
fragments dance of red and green
above her blue iris ravines
entranced to find
new faces over friends and wine
strained introductions through the flat
cacophony of common chat
this crowd is tough on the two of us
with its festive equal parity goals
she never understood all the fuss
she sighs,
"This Christmas I
just want somebody to hold."
her last resolved
with mild lamenting on the phone
the year relationship collapsed
no real relating had elapsed
we can't belong
when half a million people can be wrong
no deep connection to this date
this city has no soul to mate
this town is tough on the two of us
with its desperate equal parity goals
and other significant oversights
she sighs
"This Christmas I
just want somebody to hold."
